How to easily replace your old handles with new leather handles

After taking over our new house, we have embarked on several DIY projects. Among other things, we have renovated our hallway, where we have painted the ceiling, walls, door frames, and cabinet doors white, and replaced the old handles on the cabinet doors with new black leather handles. In this guide, we will show you how easy it is to replace your old handles with new leather handles.

Preparation before ordering leather handles

Before ordering the handles, you need to know the relevant measurements. See more about this in steps 1 and 2.
Once you have the measurements, you can order the leather handles here.

Step 1: First, measure the distance from the center to the center of the screw holes. In the image below, the distance is 12.8 cm.

Step 2: Measure the thickness of the cabinet door/drawer

Mounting leather handles

When you receive your handles, you will find the following in the package:

  • Leather handles
  • Screws for mounting

For mounting the handles, you will need:

  • 2 screwdrivers
  • If there are no existing holes that fit the handles, or if the holes have a diameter of less than 5 mm, a drill and a 5 mm drill bit will be needed

Step 3: Remove the old handles

Step 4: Ensure that the holes have a large enough diameter (5 mm) so that the included screws and cylinders fit into the holes.

If the holes are not large enough, you can enlarge them with a 5 mm drill bit.

You can quickly check if the holes are large enough by inserting the cylinder into one of the holes. See the images below.

Step 5: When mounting the handle, insert the screw through the hole in the handle, then insert the screw into the hole on the front of the cabinet/drawer.

Mount the handle with two screwdrivers. One screwdriver is used to hold the front screw in place so that it does not rotate when you tighten the screw on the back.

Tighten the screws firmly so that the handle is securely attached to the cabinet/drawer.
